The Bergisches Land has an abundance of water. Twelve reservoirs are nestled in the verdant landscape and invite you to go on long hikes, walks and cycling tours. Some of the lakes can be used for recreational activities. There are lidos and bathing spots, boat hire services, campsites and opportunities for water sports. Others are drinking water reservoirs and their shores in particular are heavily protected. 

Many hiking trails wind their way through the valleys, alongside burbling brooks and rushing rivers. It is pleasantly cool here, especially in summer.
