The handball players of VfL Gummersbach have made their city widely known. But sport is only one aspect of this district town with around 50.000 inhabitants. Gummersbach's city center invites visitors to enjoy its tranquil atmosphere.
Window shopping is encouraged. A diverse cultural program is offered. among others Hall 32, the Schwalbe Arena and the adjacent cinema center “seven“On the Steinmüller site. There, the ongoing development of an industrial wasteland with high-quality architecture and generous open spaces has already enriched the character of the city center with a modern facet.

The town also includes small, romantic villages like Hülsenbusch and Lieberhausen, which have won awards in village competitions at the state and national levels. Two reservoirs are popular destinations for those seeking recreation: The Genkel drinking water reservoir offers a peaceful walk along its shoreline, away from all traffic. The Aggertal reservoir is ideal for sailing, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. e.g. Gummersbach is connected to the Bruch lido. With its connection to the regional train line 25 and the central bus station, it is a good starting point for further excursions in the region.
