The city with many faces

Hanseatic City of Wipperfürth

Nestled in the Wupper Valley, at the crossroads of important trade routes from the Rhineland to Westphalia, the 800-year-old Hanseatic city of Wipperfürth has long been renowned for its hospitality. The oldest city (founded in 1217) in the Bergisches Land region offers both traditional charm and vibrant life. Retailers, businesses, and restaurants carry on the Hanseatic traditions, inviting visitors to stroll and linger. The market square, with its Mediterranean flair and numerous pubs and restaurants, is unique in the Bergisches Land. Several villages, each with its own tourist attractions and restaurants, surround Wipperfürth. These villages are connected by the Kirchdorf hiking trail and the Kirchdorf cycling trail, inviting visitors to explore the area in one or more stages. A particularly appealing aspect of the route is experiencing the picturesque reservoirs.

Experience nature, relax, enjoy the hospitality and be active yourself: the Hanseatic city of Wipperfürth and its church villages have a lot to offer.
