Lohmar

With its diverse and charming landscape, enchanting nature, and culinary variety, Lohmar offers everything one could wish for in a relaxing or active getaway. A well-developed network approx. 170 km A long network of hiking trails leads through Lohmar, across meadows, floodplains, and fields, over the rolling hills of the Bergisches Land region, through deep forests, and past lively streams and rivers. Historical sites and attractions such as castles, fortresses, idyllic half-timbered houses, and noteworthy churches invite exploration. Lohmar offers numerous excursion options and leisure activities for the whole family – for social or sporting pursuits. In the Aggerbogen landscape garden in Wahlscheid, nature appears to have developed without human intervention, but this – intentional – impression is deceptive, as the floodplain was pastureland until recently. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the city of Lohmar invested considerable money and effort in its design to allow nature to take its course and restore the area to its pristine character.
