City on the Agger and Sülz rivers

overath

Overath, which became a city in 1997, despite its proximity or direct transport links to and from Cologne, which has preserved its own originality, but at the same time has found a balance between the tried and tested and the new.

Buildings such as the pilgrimage church on the hill in Marialinden, visible from afar (and illuminated at night), and houses in the Bergisch half-timbered style are witnesses to a long history, complemented by new settlements in all eight districts of the town, which is traversed in the west and east by the rivers Agger and Sülz.

Near the center, the Gut Eichthal landscape park with its extracurricular, supra-regional learning site blends harmoniously into this city portrait.

From the Overath hiking station, which was fully restored in 2008 and certified in 2019, one can reach well-developed recreational trails. for the Hiking, cycling and horse riding directly in the surroundings of the charming Bergisches Land region.
