the young city with over 1100 years of history
Rösrath
The relatively young town – it only received its city charter in 2001 – lies just outside Cologne. Nestled between tradition and modernity, between nature and metropolis, Rösrath, with its over 1100-year history, offers visitors an attractive environment in a charming and unspoiled landscape. The town is easily and quickly accessible from Cologne via the well-developed rail network.
Rösrath lies in the Königsforst and the Wahner Heide nature reserve, one of the most ecologically valuable biotopes in North Rhine-Westphalia, and thus forms a popular, varied hiking area for visitors and locals.
The town comprises the districts of Rösrath, Forsbach, Kleineichen, and Hoffnungsthal, with the latter being particularly attractive to visitors due to its numerous historical monuments. The picturesque open-air swimming pool in Hoffnungsthal, completely redesigned in 2007, is popular with visitors from the entire region.
Eulenbroich Castle, the city's actual cultural center, offers a wide variety of events in a stately setting, from theatre to concerts, cabaret and exhibitions.
