Artisan and regional products, culinary delights, cultural and children's program, Guided tours through Altenberg and the monastery landscape
With the transnational project "Cisterscapes - Cistercian landscapes connecting europe", the Altenberg monastery landscape, together with 16 Cistercian monastery landscapes from six European countries, was awarded the European Heritage Label in April 2024. Monastic landscapes from Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic are involved. The overarching aim is to bring the former Cistercian network back to life and promote a common identity.
A monastery market will be held in Altenberg at the end of April, offering products from the monasteries, guided tours of Altenberg and the surrounding area, the opportunity to sample typical Cistercian dishes and a varied program for children:
