"Up & Down – Pilgrimage to Heaven". Engelskirchen Cultural and Church Cycle Route

The Oberberg Cultural Church is also a cycling pilgrimage stop! It's the starting point for this bike tour along the cycle path with various municipal and church-related stations: "Up & Down – Heavenward! The Engelskirchen Cultural and Church Cycle Path." This cycling tour, developed under this title, leads from Osberghausen to Ehreshoven and includes 23 themed stations. We'll explore the route by bike on Saturday, September 5, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. Our local expert, Christian Stiefelhagen, and the artist Gabi Oetterer will be there to assist us.

The meeting point is the parking lot of the +CulturKirche, Em Depensiefen 4, in Osberghausen. The tour will conclude with a short service at one of the chapels visited.

The tour visits both municipal and ecumenical religious sites. It explores the church and cultural landscape around Engelskirchen, taking in small and large towns and villages by bicycle that have been and continue to be formative for the community and the region. A selection of these sites is presented on this tour.

These files show the route and can be used to follow it. The tour is a linear route and leads mainly through rural areas. It is quite challenging and includes climbs on both sides of the Agger Valley. An e-bike is highly recommended.
