Pedelec training
FREE PEDELEC TRAINING
RIDING WITH CONFIDENCE ON AN ELECTRIC BIKE
The City of Overath, Senior Citizens' Office, is offering free e-bike training on Saturday, September 26, 2026. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., participants can familiarize themselves with the features of electric cycling and improve their skills and agility on two wheels at the school grounds in Cyriax.
Strength is often underestimated.
Legally, a pedelec is considered a normal bicycle. However, due to its stronger acceleration, higher base speed, and greater weight, its handling differs significantly from a conventional two-wheeler. The rising number of accidents shows that many users underestimate this power.
To counteract this trend, the city of Overath is hosting this safety training course. A certified instructor from the Rhein-Berg traffic safety organization will bring participants up to date on the latest theoretical and practical aspects of cycling technology, traffic regulations, and cycling skills. The training is supported by the Future Network Mobility NRW and the State Traffic Safety Organization NRW, and is therefore free of charge.
Registrations are possible until 22.09.2026 at the Senior Citizens' Office at: seniorenbuero@overath.de or by phone at: 02206/602-777.
Please note that no equipment is provided. You must bring your own e-bike and bicycle helmet. Participation in the course will be refused without a helmet. Participation in the training is at your own risk.
If someone does not have a pedelec bike, they are advised to use the rental service offered by VRS (Bergisches e-Bike).
