Great offers for children, teenagers and families

During the summer holidays, there is an open and varied program for children aged 6 and up. In July and August, young and old alike can also look forward to the popular events "On the Road - Technology Day" and the two-day "Farmers' Market".

The program:

Tuesday, July 21st and 28th, 10:00–11:30 a.m.: Baking in the historic bakehouse: Our museum baker will demonstrate his craft in the bakehouse, and then you can try it yourself. Together, we'll shape small loaves of bread, sticks, or pretzels from dough. Experience traditional craftsmanship with all your senses. Baked goods can be picked up from 1:00 p.m.

Thursday, July 23.07, 11:00 AM – 16:00 PM: Open Stone Workshop : Get hands-on with the stones! Using rasps and sandpaper, participants will work with soapstone together. Skillful use of the tools will transform this soft stone into creative figures, abstract forms, and unique, tactile objects.

Friday, July 24.07, August 07.08, August 21.08, 15:00 PM – 17:00 PM: Rope Making – A Fascinating Craft : Robust ropes are created from a single strand in no time. In our rope-making workshop, the museum craftsman demonstrates the exciting work with combs, guide sticks, and strands.

Sunday, July 26.07th and August 25.08th, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM: Open Woodworking Workshop : Here you can saw, hammer, file, measure, and assemble. With a little skill, you can create beautiful and useful wooden objects for play or the garden. Duration: approx. 1 hour, participation fee: €17 per person + material costs, payable directly at the workshop (from €6 depending on the wooden object). Parents are welcome to help!

Thursday, July 30.07th, 11:00 AM – 16:00 PM: Carving for children aged 8 and up: Hazelwood sticks will be carved using carving knives. Small figures, swords, or magic wands can be carved. Small reliefs can be carved into a block of wood using carving chisels. Together we will learn how to handle the knife and create individual pieces from wood.

Friday, July 31.07st and August 20.08th, 11:00 AM – 14:00 PM: Pottery : Clay is a versatile material, also pliable, malleable, universally applicable, and a natural material. Gain a brief introduction to the craft of pottery and create your own small figures, bowls, or vessels.

Tuesday, August 04.08th, 11:00 AM – 13:00 PM: Animal Museum – On the Trail of Farm and Wild Animals : Join us on a journey of discovery through the museum. We'll visit the large museum animals and also take note of the smaller animal inhabitants on the grounds. Be curious about what we encounter!

Thursday, August 06.08th and 28.08th, 11:00 AM – 14:00 PM: Crafting with paper and cardboard : Make origami frogs jump, cardboard horses gallop, butterflies flutter, and colorful birds emerge. Cut, glue, fold, and a simple sheet of paper transforms into an animal shape.

Thursday, August 13th, 13.08th, 14.08th, 20.08st, 10:00 AM – 21.08:00 PM: Art Creator, a workshop by Kulturrucksack NRWIn this course, you will learn simple techniques and how to use tools to creatively work with wooden sculptures.

Thursday, July 27.08rd, 11:00 AM – 14:00 PM: Clay pendantUsing cookie cutters, we create imaginative pendants, stamp names into them, and use grasses and leaves for beautiful natural prints. After drying, you can paint your creations at home and hang them on colorful ribbons or wire.

The holiday program is an open offer, so there may be occasional short waiting times if there is high demand. Preferred times can be indicated when registering to ensure an even distribution of participants. For all activities, supervision of the child remains the responsibility of the parents or accompanying adults. Groups must request and book separate dates and activities!
