Guided tour in the Aggertal Cave: "Unsolved - Mysteries from the Past"

Mysterious traces lie hidden within the Aggertal Cave, only revealed by restoration work in 2021. These traces of processes likely occurred deep within the rock strata deposited on the seabed sometime between the Upper Middle Devonian period, 380 million years ago, and the formation of the Variscan Mountains during the Carboniferous period. We know that these rock strata were repeatedly subject to geological and tectonic activity. Restoration work in 2021 uncovered the traces of this activity. It is well worth following these traces and discovering them.

In this themed tour, we'll search for these traces of the past. We'll examine the iron ore deposits ubiquitous in the Aggertal Cave, which we'll encounter in a variety of ways. We'll collect and analyze clues that might indicate we're actually exploring Aggertal Cave 2.0. There's a lot of evidence to suggest this, but we don't know for sure. Nevertheless, it's exciting to gather clues and develop a theory about past events, just like detectives would. It's sure to be a thrilling experience.

This special tour is for geology enthusiasts who enjoy following mysterious and exciting clues from the past. It might also be of interest to geological societies focused on the geological history of the Bergisches Land region or the Rhenish Massif. We will enter the cave with a small group of no more than 15 people and look forward not only to exploring the cave with our guests but also to engaging in conversation. The tour lasts approximately one hour. However, since we are open to questions and discussions on this topic, it may take a little longer.
