Day
On your arrival day, after a welcome drink at the Hotel Landgasthof Tönnes, you'll hike the Bergischer Streifzug No. 2 trail (4,3 km) and experience how the wild Wupper River was tamed. The "Water Trail" in Hückeswagen leads you around the largest pre-dam of the 25.6 million cubic meter Wupper Reservoir and explains how the reservoir works and the history of hydropower in the region. Along the way, there's fascinating information for all ages about a wastewater treatment plant and the pre-dam itself. After the hike, you'll stop for coffee and cake. In the evening, a two-course dinner awaits you at the Landgasthof Tönnes, where you'll also spend the night.
Day
On day 2, you'll start with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, the third hike, the "Heimatweg" (11,1 km), will take you through the oldest town in the Bergisches Land region. Along this circular route, you'll not only learn about the region, its people, and its unique characteristics, but you can also listen to the Bergisches Land anthem at an audio station. After this hike, Mr. Tönnes will welcome you to his hotel with a traditional Bergisches Land coffee and cake spread.
