Aggertal Cave
The guided tour route itself is 270 m long with an elevation change of approximately 10 m and is easily accessible. The entrance hall and main corridor are also wheelchair accessible. A temperature of 6–8 degrees Celsius is maintained year-round.
The Aggertal Cave is open every year from April 1st to November 1st, Thursday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and on public holidays. A typical guided tour lasts approximately 45-50 minutes. The first tour starts at 10:00 AM, with subsequent tours departing every 75 minutes. Souvenirs and mementos are also available for purchase.

The Aggertal Cave is easily accessible by RB 25 train. A 3,5 km hiking trail leads from Engelskirchen train station to the cave, and there is also a bus service. Here you will find a travel report about a visit to the cave.
Please remember to bring warm clothing, as the temperature inside the cave is only 6 to 8 degrees Celsius all year round.

It is not possible to visit the entire guided tour route with a wheelchair, as there are narrow passages and steps in the cave. However, it is possible to see parts of the cave in a wheelchair. Please contact us in advance of your planned visit to discuss this.

Arrival & Parking
Ründeroth can be reached via the A4 motorway from Cologne or Olpe via the Engelskirchen exit.
Arrival is also possible via the RB25 regional train; the stop is "Bahnhof Ründeroth" (Ründeroth Station). The Cave Trail (Streifzug Nr. 14) also begins at Ründeroth Station. Hiking this circular route, you will reach the Aggertal Cave at approximately kilometer 6.

Wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility can visit the wheelchair-accessible entrance hall and the main passage. For blind and visually impaired visitors, there are several areas where the coral reefs and iron ore deposits can be easily explored by touch. The cave entrance can be reached from the parking areas without a steep path. An accessible restroom is available.
