Bevertal Dam
The Bever Dam is the oldest industrial water reservoir and was built between 1896 and 1898. More precisely, the old Bever Dam was constructed during these years. It had a storage capacity of 3,30 million cubic meters and supplied process water for Wuppertal's industries.
Today, the Bever Dam primarily serves to augment the Wupper River's low water levels and provide flood control. It was constructed between 1935 and 1938 and commissioned in 1938. It is connected to the Neye and Schevelinger Dams via tunnels, together forming the so-called "Beverblock." The dam has a reservoir area of 200 hectares, a height of 31,5 meters, and a storage capacity of 23,7 million cubic meters.
