Weltersbach Bible Garden
"WALKING THROUGH THE BIBLE" is the theme of the Bible Garden located on the grounds of the Weltersbach Deaconess Center in Leichlingen. Here, over 80 specimens of the approximately 120 plants mentioned in the Bible are displayed on roughly 1.700 square meters. Each plant is accompanied by an information panel explaining its botanical and biblical significance. Among the plants on display are anemones, chamomile, hyssop, lavender, wheat, barley, mustard, oregano, coriander, and garlic, as well as a mulberry tree, a bay tree, olive trees, and a grapevine.
There are also 23 artistic depictions of various events from the Old and New Testaments, such as the Creation, the Ten Commandments, the Wedding at Cana, the Disciples on the Road to Emmaus, the Stable in Bethlehem, and many more, each with a corresponding information panel.
The Bible Garden is open daily during daylight hours. Admission is free.
