Breidenbach Castle
The manor house in Oberbreidenbach, dating primarily from the 17th century (later modernized and adapted to contemporary times), was once home to members of the lower Bergish nobility. Originally, two high residential floors of unplastered rubble stone stood above the ground-level cellar. The segmental arched windows are still visible in the masonry of the southern and western sides of the building. The interior has now been converted into three stories, each with six window bays along the long sides. Remnants of walls discovered to the east suggest that the manor house once extended further in that direction. A sandstone plaque with a relief-like alliance coat of arms is affixed to the north side of the building. Unfortunately, due to a later addition, its exact design cannot be determined.
