Volperhausen Castle

Historical site
Volperhausen - The castle as an outpost.
It lies somewhat hidden behind hedges, just four kilometers from Morsbach in the direction of Wissen. Volperhausen Castle, formerly an outpost of Crottorf Castle, is one of the more unassuming historical buildings in the Bergisches Land region.

This fortified house in the Wissenbach valley was first mentioned in 1462. The people of Morsbach still call it a "water castle" because the house was formerly surrounded by water. At times, the castle was owned by the Count of Hatzfeldt and the lords of the manor of Morsbach.
Today the castle is privately owned and cannot be visited. But even from the outside, the sturdy stone building with its slate-covered hipped roof is impressive.
