Grünscheider Mill

Mills/Hammers
Milling took place in the mill, which formerly belonged to the knight's estate, until the middle of the 20th century.
Today it is a residential building, the oldest parts of which date from the late 17th century, but most of which are from the early 19th century. The broad, two-story timber-framed house, with a brick facade on the ground floor, has a high gable roof. The gate and windows have wooden frames, and the upper floor features rectangular, small-scale timber framing. A small brick outbuilding remains at the rear of the house. Between this and the house lies the old millrace with its waterwheel. The year 1741 is inscribed in the roof structure on the west side of the house. Preserving the original masonry and interior layout, the mill was meticulously restored by its then-owner at the end of the 20th century.
