Eichthal Estate

park/garden area
Public historic manor house in an English landscape park.
The Eichthal estate is located in Overath on the Agger river. The historic estate building, dating from the early 19th century, has been owned by the city of Overath since 1988.
Since then, Gut Eichthal has been a branch office of the LVR Office for Archaeological Heritage Management, whose main office is in Bonn. In the "Getting to Know the Environment" project, Gut Eichthal is one of four locations in the region where students are introduced to knowledge at special extracurricular sites. Lessons take place in several modern pavilions and also outdoors in the open countryside. Students can view artifacts from the archaeologists' collection and experience the work of the experts firsthand.
In addition to serving as a learning center with modern classrooms, the large park surrounding the estate is also used by the local population as a recreational area. A pedestrian bridge connects the grounds to the town, thereby increasing Gut Eichthal's recreational value and integrating it into the hiking trail network.
