Wermelskirchen - Rebuilt in 1758
Wermelskirchen is a picture-perfect Bergisches Land town. In the beautiful old town center, rebuilt after the great fire of 1758, slate and half-timbered architecture dominate the landscape, bearing witness to the town's long history. It was first documented around 1150 as Werenboldeskirken. Those who explore the town will be surprised by its extensive cultural offerings. At the heart of these activities is the multifunctional community center "Kattwinkelsche Fabrik," which boasts an outstanding cabaret and variety show program.
Besides the Dhünn Dam, the enchanting Eifgen Valley is a popular hiking destination, and when your feet are hot and your legs are tired, you can fortify yourself with a typical Bergisches Land coffee and cake spread in one of the many cozy restaurants.
During the Advent weekends, the Nikolausmarkt in Wermelskirchen attracts visitors with Germany's tallest natural Christmas tree, which shines with a fascinating light show, especially at nightfall.
