Historic town center of Witzhelden

Historical city center
Quaint village center with typical Bergisches Land half-timbered houses
The hilltop village of Witzhelden, a district of Leichlingen since 1975, was first mentioned in a document on October 11, 1184.
During the Bergish period, the parish of Witzhelden had its own regional court and belonged to the Miselohe district. The Lutheran confession has prevailed since 1560. The Counts and Dukes of Berg held significant land in Witzhelden, which was consolidated in the manor of Zum Eichen and included the stewardship of Burg Castle.
