Historic village of Gruiten

Gruiten has been a district of Haan since 1975. Rural life predominates in Gruiten, with large areas of unspoiled nature and agriculture alongside the old half-timbered village. For centuries, limestone quarrying was central to the town's economy, significantly shaping the landscape. The prominent Pit 7, in particular, was in operation until the late 60s and then transformed into a local recreation and landscape conservation area.
