Chapel "Mary in Distress" near Hohr

A plaque on the door provides the following information: "Mary in Distress - 1665. Built in honor of St. Roch, helper of plague victims."

After the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), the plague raged in our region as well. In their distress, people sought help and comfort from Mary and Saint Roch, who had cared for the plague victims and had himself contracted the disease and died. The chapel was built by Adolf von Wylich of Groß-Bernsau (Overath).
