Dams/Lakes
Kerspe Dam = Drinking Water Dam.
The Kerspe Dam was built in 1912 with a capacity of 16 million cubic meters of water and supplies raw water for drinking water treatment to the Herbringhausen waterworks of the Wuppertal municipal utilities for the Wuppertal water supply.

Since the Kerspe reservoir is solely for drinking water, access to water protection zone I – the immediate shoreline area – is prohibited. Therefore, the reservoir is unfortunately fenced off and inaccessible.
