The history of the kindergarten.
"Those who destroy their roots cannot grow."

Friedensreich Hundertwasser

Under this guiding principle, the Kindergarten Museum pursues the goal of preserving and presenting the history of the kindergarten, the crèche and the after-school care center for posterity.

The focus is on the development of early childhood education in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exhibited play and educational materials, pictures and specialist books, as well as historical illustrations, are intended to illustrate this development and at the same time highlight the relevance of these materials in the present day.

As the only museum of its kind in North Rhine-Westphalia, the topics of great educators, training of educators, crèche education yesterday and today, kindergarten of the 1970s and “treasures” from the depot are addressed in five rooms.

The museum is open on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 13:00 and by appointment.
