Kirchdorf Egen

Historical city center
Egen is the smallest of the church villages in Wipperfürth.
The church, with its unique onion dome—unusual for the Bergisches Land region—forms the center of the village, which includes many surrounding farms and hamlets. It was built around 1850 through the initiative of the citizens of Egen.

Since April 2018, it has been officially designated a "hiking and cycling church," inviting hikers and cyclists to a moment of peace (more information about cycling churches). here).

In the village of Egen-Hohenbüchen lies one of the highest points in the municipality of Wipperfürth, reaching an altitude of 395 meters. The drive along the open road over the ridge offers wonderful panoramic views. In some places, you can even see as far as the village of Agathaberg.
