Welcome to the Bünghausen Monastery Courtyard!

The Klosterhof Bünghausen organic farm is one of the last small and exceptionally diverse farms in the Bergisches Land region. Cattle, chickens, horses, and sheep live here, and meadows, pastures, and small fields are cultivated according to organic principles. At the same time, the farming couple Susanne Schulte and Peter Schmidt have specialized in providing unique farm experiences for people of all ages. Klosterhof Bünghausen is also the only "demonstration farm for organic agriculture" in the region.

Located on the outskirts of Gummersbach, easily accessible by train (RB25, Dieringhausen station) and car (30 minutes from the Cologne Zoo Bridge), the Klosterhof team offers a comprehensive and personalized program. Farmer Susanne Schulte is a certified farm-based experiential educator, and the farm serves as an extracurricular learning center.

Tourist offers
For families and groups, for example, there are open activity days and farm tours. Or bookable offers such as

- Guided hikes with and without tastings through the surrounding cultural landscape
- Farm tours
- Animal encounters
- Farm Challenges
- Coffee klatch not just for seniors
- Company and group outings
- Themed and culinary days – for example, on the topics of "From sheep to scarf", "Chickens - eggs - delicacies", "Apples - cider and more" and others
- Children's birthdays
- Special offers for children and young people – also available for accompanied groups

Animal diversity
The Klosterhof Bünghausen is a recognized heritage farm where endangered farm animals are bred – the Red Highland cattle as a native breed, the Noriker horses of the Abtenau variety as the smallest "German-speaking" draft horse breed, mountain sheep of various colors, and Bresse and Mechelen chickens. The farm operates according to the criteria of the organic farming association Biokreis and the regional marketing program "bergisch pur".

Farm products
Only products from their own farm are sold directly: meat (beef, lamb, and chicken), eggs from dual-purpose chickens, jams, medicinal wool, and much more. What makes it special: Susanne Schulte and Peter Schmidt place great importance on the humane treatment of their animals. Therefore, they accompany every cow and every lamb to slaughter on the farm, thus making animal transport completely unnecessary.

Guest tour
Susanne Schulte & Peter Schmidt – the team from Klosterhof Bünghausen

Susanne Schulte and Peter Schmidt make it possible to experience agriculture up close.

Agriculture is their passion: Susanne Schulte is a certified farm-based experiential educator, and Peter Schmidt is a farmer and, as a journalist, the author of various leisure guides for the Bergisches Land region. Both are based at Klosterhof Bünghausen, a Biokreis-certified organic farm, a GEH-listed heritage farm, and a demonstration farm for organic agriculture. They share not only a passion for agriculture and heritage animal breeds, but are also experts when it comes to providing authentic farm experiences. They are happy to develop customized programs for you on and around their own farm, and are also willing to collaborate with other farms in the Bergisches Land region upon request.

You can find the current offers at www.klosterbauer.deFrom "normal" farm tours to culinary offers, workshops, farm challenges and attractive seminars, or even farm tours specially tailored to your wishes, Susanne Schulte and Peter Schmidt make many things possible.
