Animal diversity
The Klosterhof Bünghausen is a recognized heritage farm where endangered farm animals are bred – the Red Highland cattle as a native breed, the Noriker horses of the Abtenau variety as the smallest "German-speaking" draft horse breed, mountain sheep of various colors, and Bresse and Mechelen chickens. The farm operates according to the criteria of the organic farming association Biokreis and the regional marketing program "bergisch pur".
Farm products
Only products from their own farm are sold directly: meat (beef, lamb, and chicken), eggs from dual-purpose chickens, jams, medicinal wool, and much more. What makes it special: Susanne Schulte and Peter Schmidt place great importance on the humane treatment of their animals. Therefore, they accompany every cow and every lamb to slaughter on the farm, thus making animal transport completely unnecessary.
