Formerly a train station - now a cult restaurant
The Overath train station was built in 1884 as a third-class station during the construction of the Aggertal railway line from Siegburg to Gummersbach. In 1910, for the opening of the Overath-Rösrath-Cologne railway line, it was expanded to its current form and size. It is centrally located in the heart of the town. For decades, the station was the economic hub of Overath. In recent years, it has been transformed into a cultural center.

Furthermore, the "Kulturbahnhof" (Cultural Train Station) boasts a modern event space and seminar rooms. Cultural events, concerts, and theatrical performances, as well as celebrations and exhibitions, fill the station with life. With its greywacke brickwork and rolling doors in front of the large windows, the event hall offers a unique ambiance for many occasions. Four attractive seminar rooms and a wedding room complete the offerings at the Kulturbahnhof.

In October 2019, Overath train station was named "NRW Hiking Station of the Year." Decisive factors in the decision included its excellent rail connections (including weekends), the "Stadtmitte" station restaurant, its use as a cultural center, and its role as a starting point for numerous cycling and hiking trails. For example, the "Overath Pilgrim's Trail," stage 9 of the "Bergischer Weg" long-distance hiking trail, the Overath "Cloverleaf" (four circular hiking trails), the Agger-Sülz Cycle Path, and the "Following in Müller's Footsteps" e-bike route all begin here. Additional hiking trails are located in the immediate vicinity.
