Lambach Pump Marienheide
Lovingly restored pump monument in Marienheide
The "legendary technology from Marienheide," the Lambach pump, brought great relief to people at the end of the 19th century. Clean drinking water, especially in rural areas, often had to be laboriously drawn and transported. The pump solved this problem. Powered solely by water and without an electricity connection—which was not always available in rural areas at the time—it delivered fresh water to homes.
The millwright Gottlieb Lambach invented this pump in 1890 and manufactured it in Marienheide, near the Pump Museum, in Marienheide Oberwipper. At its peak, the company was known throughout Europe.
More than 130 years later, the association "Lambach Pumpe Marienheide eV" has restored one of these pumps, which were already very environmentally friendly at the time, and put it on display in an old pump house, ready for operation.
Open from May to October on the first weekend of the month (Saturday and Sunday) from 10:00 to 17:00 or by prior telephone arrangement.
