Small but beautiful - the Lingese Dam
Built between 1897 and 1899, the Lingese Dam is one of the oldest reservoirs managed by the Wupperverband (Wupper Water Association). The dammed river is the Lingese, a tributary of the Wipper. This small, manageable dam originally served to regulate the river and supply industrial water; today it provides flood control and augment low water levels.

Furthermore, it is an important local recreation area with opportunities for all kinds of water sports. Swimming areas are located at the DLRG station, the campsite, and on the Linge River (see download). The lakeside path around the reservoir is approximately 5 km long.

Fish at the Lingese

Many fish species find their habitat in the underwater world of the Bergisches Land reservoirs. A fish nature trail along the shores of the Lingese reservoir provides information about the vibrant life beneath the surface.
