Multi-generational park including boules court
It babbles gently along as you enter the multi-generational park in Schönenberg. The Waldbrölbach stream flows leisurely from its source in the Bocksheide forest in Waldbröl, through Schönenberg towards Bröleck, where it joins the Bröl river.
The Schönenberg Citizens' Association (Bürgerverein Schönenberg e.V.) has been responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the park since its founding in 1980, as the leaseholder of the property. Since then, new projects have been continuously developed, all aiming to make the park inviting. The increasing number of visitors demonstrates the park's growing appeal. Children climb on the playground equipment. In the sandbox, they build sandcastles with tunnels and bake sand figures and cakes. On the grassy lawn, children dance and sing and compete in acrobatic feats like cartwheels. The sports field with a basketball hoop invites children to play soccer, compete, and burn off energy.
Recent projects included a pétanque court for everyone and the installation of various fitness equipment. Instructions for using the fitness equipment and the rules of pétanque can be found on an information board.
Under the shade-giving deciduous trees you will find plenty of benches to linger, chat and exchange everyday concerns and experiences from life.
Public restrooms are available during the town hall's opening hours. Outside of these hours, you can also use the restrooms at the Munddorf gas station. A wide variety of drinks and food are also available for purchase there.
