Neyetal Dam

Dams/Lakes
The Neyetalsperre reservoir is located in the north of the Hanseatic city of Wipperfürth.
It was built between 1907 and 1909 by the city of Remscheid as a drinking water reservoir. Its capacity is 6 million cubic meters.

It can be circumnavigated in about three hours. The paths, which always run directly along the water and exclusively through the forest, are equally appealing in summer and winter. At the dam, there is an information panel for trail #3 "Heimatweg" (Homeland Trail) with an audio station where you can listen to the well-known "Heimatlied" (Homeland Song).

Bats at the Neyetal Dam
Bats are masters of silent flight in the dark, a phenomenon that fascinates many people. The waters of reservoirs are preferred hunting grounds for bats such as the Daubenton's bat and the common noctule.
