Looking back at the history of the Reuschenberg Mill, one encounters three mill sites on the grounds of the present-day mill: the old gristmill and the old oil mill opposite. However, the construction of the new mill, a state-of-the-art mill built by Baron Franz Egon von Fürstenberg-Stammheim, is what truly defines its current appearance. Grain and oil products were produced in this facility using cutting-edge millstones and hydraulic presses. From the 1880s onward, the mill served as a paper mill, processing rags and sanding wood. The turbine-powered drive system of the 1847 state-of-the-art mill appears to have remained constant, generating the electricity for the millstones and oil presses.
