This dam is a drinking water reservoir and is designed to purify the water from the Hönnige area before conveying it through a 950-meter-long tunnel to the Neye Dam. A further 800-meter-long open-channel tunnel allows the Hönnige water to be diverted from the Neye Dam to the Bever Dam.
