The former Lerbach estate was first documented in 1259. After several changes of ownership and renovations, the original buildings had to be demolished. The building that can still be seen today was completed in 1898 and was used as a hotel from 1992 onwards. For many years, the renowned chef Dieter Müller managed the restaurant and developed it into a Michelin-starred establishment. The hotel has been closed since 2015, and the building now stands empty.
Following successful renovation and expansion of the grounds, Lerbach Castle is scheduled to reopen in 2026 as a four-star superior Dorint Hotel. The plans include several hotel buildings with a total of 125 rooms, a restaurant serving regional cuisine, a conference and event area, and a spa with swimming ponds.
The park is scheduled to reopen to visitors in the summer of 2025.
More information about the renovation.
The restoration of Lerbach Castle will take more time.
