Hits for Kids

The most convenient way to Burg Castle

The chairs glide silently and gently from the Wupper River up the steep slope to Burg. This passenger cable car, built in 1952, was the first of its kind and still runs like clockwork. On the way up, hugging the mountainside, you first float over dense brambles and then over a small goat meadow before reaching the mountain station. Those who have booked a return trip are rewarded with a spectacular view of the Bergisches Land region. However, a head for heights is definitely recommended at these altitudes.
Please note that the mountain station is not wheelchair accessible; there are 36 steps to climb.

Attention cyclists: Your bicycle (excluding e-bikes) can also be transported to the mountain station via the chairlift. It's best to simply ask the staff on site.

Arrival & Parking

Take the A1 motorway to the Wermelskirchen exit, then head towards Solingen Burg, past Burg Castle down into the valley and then turn right. The valley station is on the left at the end of Unterburg. If you are coming from Solingen, follow Burger Landstraße down into the valley; the cable car is directly in front of you at the T-junction.
