Theater Haus Birkenried - The theater in the Rhein-Sieg district.

Theatre of all sizes, from chamber theatre to open-air theatre.

In 1984, after a long and grueling process, the acting couple Sibylle Kuhne and Jörg Kaehler from Leipzig managed to leave the former GDR. They established a new home in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, idyllically situated in the Bergisches Land region. From there, they performed on numerous stages throughout Germany until they found a place where they could pursue their goals independently.

In 1995, they initially began presenting literary programs in their house. In the basement, they had converted a room into a small theater that could accommodate about 45 spectators.

With growing popularity, they were able to expand their offerings. They began with two-person plays, directed by Jörg Kaehler, who has also been a director since the 1970s. Interest increased, and soon they were able to broaden their repertoire:

Beloved Liar by Kilty, Enigma by Schmitt, Love Letters by Gurney, Long Day's Journey into Night by O'Neill, etc.

The plays became more numerous, the program more demanding.

However, it became clear that it was not possible to shoulder the tasks alone in the long run. Therefore, it was essential to give the company a foundation and a legal structure.

Therefore, the Haus Birkenried support association was founded in 1999.
