From paper to warp, from wool to finished fabric.
The 160-year-old Johann Wülfing & Sohn cloth factory is a unique industrial monument in Germany. It is located in the village of Dahlerau, directly on the Wupper River. According to tradition, it was founded in Lennep in 1674 and closed its doors forever in 1996, becoming one of the last German victims of the competitive struggle within the international textile industry. The factory buildings remain, bearing witness to the former size and importance of the company. Since 1997, the members of the Johann Wülfing & Sohn Museum Association have been preserving the memories of this bygone era and making them accessible to the public.

A highlight of the museum is the historical energy generation system using a steam engine and a water turbine powered by the Wupper River. Many machines are still functional, such as historic looms and quality control equipment. The museum vividly and entertainingly illustrates all stages of textile production.

Coffee and cake are available in a large café area.

Guided tours can be booked for groups and tailored in type and length to suit the respective target group.
