Wuppertal Dam
Kräwinkler Bridge bathing area
Here you will find a sunbathing and play area, water sports facilities (pedal boat rentals), food and drink options/snack bars, and restrooms. This bathing area is located in the Kräwinklerbrücke water sports and leisure facility, which is managed by GABE gGmbH (a non-profit organization for work and training in the Bergisches Land region).
The Wuppertal Dam is a worthwhile destination for recreational divers. Underwater, one can find old industrial facilities as well as a viaduct with three arches that can be dived through.
The Wupper Dam is a reservoir for industrial water supply and is located between the towns of Remscheid, Radevormwald, and Hückeswagen. It serves to protect against flooding and to augment the water level of the Wupper River during periods of low water. Construction began in 1982, and the dam was opened in 1987. Four of the five upstream reservoirs fulfill not only water management but also ecological functions. They provide habitat for numerous animal and plant species around the Wupper Dam.
