Proven good quality

Certifications and Awards

Besides membership in the Bergisches Land tourism association, there are numerous certifications for restaurants and accommodations throughout Germany. You can advertise with the corresponding certificates and awards, and some are even listed on external websites alongside other award-winning businesses. Here are a few options; of course, there are many other awards you can use to evaluate your business.

Certification as a Quality Host for Hiking in Germany

The "Quality Host Hiking in Germany" certificate is awarded to accommodation establishments (e.g. Hlicenses are awarded to hotels, guesthouses, inns, guesthouses, apartments, holiday apartments and houses, private landlords, campsites, youth hostels, hiking hostels and huts) as well as to pure catering establishments and restaurants of accommodation establishments.

DTV-Certification

The official DTVThe five stars indicate to guests that this accommodation has been inspected and rated according to the star criteria of the German Tourism Association. Depending on the facilities and services, the accommodation is awarded one to five stars – from basic to first-class. DTV-Stars are a voluntary quality control for holiday apartments and houses as well as holiday rooms with up to nine beds.

Bed + Bike certification

The popularity of cycling tours and longer cycling holidays is steadily increasing in the Bergisches Land region. With the "Bed+Bike" quality certificate, you can specifically target this group and intensify your marketing efforts. There are a few minimum criteria and additional services you must meet. You can find more information about this on the website. ADFC.

DEHOGA-Hotel classification

The German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) offers the “German Hotel Classification” as a service.DEHOGA) offers a nationwide standardized classification system. All hotels with eight or more beds can participate. There are minimum criteria that must be met; these criteria are publicly accessible and transparent.

Certification according to “Travel for All”

"Travel for All" provides reliable information on accessibility – objectively collected, clearly presented, and easily comparable. Whether it's accessible vacations, leisure activities, cultural offerings, excursion destinations, museums, amusement parks, or nature trails: here, customers can see in advance whether routes, spaces, and services meet their needs. Ideal for everyone who wants to travel accessible.

Practical text modules and recommendations for sustainability communication

Sustainability toolbox

Sustainability is not just a "nice-to-have." Aspects such as resource conservation, fair working conditions, and regional value creation are becoming increasingly important in tourism. Guests are paying more and more attention to concrete measures like resource-efficient operations, certified environmental standards, and fair working conditions. Partners value transparent and fair supply relationships. At the same time, demonstrable measures in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance offer the opportunity to position one's own offerings competitively in the long term. What matters is not only what is implemented, but also how it is communicated. Good communication is crucial here. Here are a few tips from Tourism NRW.
