With this new event format, the tourism organization aims to place greater emphasis on cycling and showcase the Bergisches Land region's diversity as a cycling destination. The program is geared towards day visitors from the region and surrounding areas, as well as short-stay and overnight guests. "With the Bergisches Land Hiking Weeks, we've seen in recent years how much themed event weeks can inspire people to visit our region. Now, with the Bergisches Land Cycling Week, we're creating a dedicated highlight for cycling enthusiasts for the first time, while simultaneously offering real added value right on the doorstep of local residents," says Gabi Wilhelm, Managing Director of Das Bergische. "Our goal is to position the region as a versatile destination for outdoor activities and to showcase the wide range of cycling options available in the Bergisches Land, alongside hiking."

The first program items are already online – including guided tours, bicycle maintenance courses, and repair workshops. The offerings range from relaxed tours on former railway lines and scenic routes to more challenging gravel bike and mountain bike tours. Longer tours for short breaks are also part of the program. A particular focus is placed on easy accessibility for guests from the Rhineland. For example, some tours start from well-connected locations outside the region – such as rides into the Bergisches Land region starting in Cologne-Dellbrück.
