From August 22nd to 30th, the Bergische tourism organization is hosting its first-ever cycling-themed cycling week. Participants can expect a diverse program including guided tours and other cycling-related activities. Registration for the events is now open.
A diverse program to suit every need
Whether a leisurely tour on former railway lines, a sporty gravel bike or mountain bike ride, an after-work road bike tour, skills training, or a repair workshop – the program caters to both beginners and experienced cyclists. The offerings are complemented by special behind-the-scenes glimpses from regional partners. For example, the Schwalbe brand world, which is not normally open to the public, will open its doors exclusively for two guided tours during the Bergische Radwoche (Bergisch Cycling Week).
“With the Bergische Radwoche (Bergische Cycling Week), we showcase the diversity of cycling in the Bergisches Land region. We want to inspire even more people to discover the Bergisches Land on two wheels and demonstrate that, in addition to hiking, our region also offers excellent conditions for varied cycling experiences,” says Gabi Wilhelm, Managing Director of Das Bergische.
Partners create a diverse program
Numerous regional partners make a significant contribution to the program. For example, the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club) organizes the Bergische Radwoche (Bergisch Cycling Week) with a wide variety of guided tours, contributing its many years of experience in tour planning and leadership. "Together with many partners, a diverse program has been created that showcases the full spectrum of cycling in the Bergisches Land region – from leisurely tours and sporty activities to practical training."
“Workshops,” says Lisa Rettler, product manager for cycling at Das Bergische. “This way, everyone can find the right offer to explore our region by bike.”
Tours also start in the surrounding area
To ensure that people from the surrounding area can easily participate in the Bergisches Land Cycling Week, some tours deliberately start in Cologne, Solingen, and Remscheid. From there, the routes lead directly into the Bergisches Land region. In this way, the cycling week also embraces the idea of the umbrella brand "einfach bergisch radeln" (simply cycle through the Bergisches Land): cycle paths along former railway lines connect the Bergisches Land with the neighboring cities and enable attractive, largely nature-oriented tours that extend beyond regional borders.
An offer for guests and locals
To coincide with the Bergisches Land Cycling Week, numerous hosts have put together special offers for cycling tourists and day visitors. These range from special overnight packages and culinary offerings to cyclist-friendly services, inviting visitors to extend their stay in the Bergisches Land region with a delightful meal or an overnight stay.
“The Bergische Cycling Week is a multifaceted offering for people in the Bergisches Land region and beyond. It invites them to actively rediscover their own homeland and explore the diverse opportunities that the Bergisches Land has to offer cyclists.
