The circular hiking trail starts at the Hotel-Restaurant Lüdenbach in Overath.
Marialinden Cathedral has a unique feature: it stands on a hilltop, making it visible from afar in all directions. You can enjoy this magnificent view on a beautiful day hike on the outskirts of Overath. Take a leisurely stroll up through the Lombach Valley. Then you'll see Marialinden Cathedral ahead, and you can stop for refreshments at the country inn. From there, hike along the Kleine Naaf stream and through the Schlingenbach Valley back to the Agger River.

Our recommendations for places to eat and drink:There is an organic farm near the path:

Directions

  • Cross the main road at the traffic lights, continue straight ahead onto Klef street, cross the railway and the Agger river, then turn right onto a dirt road along the river, go under the motorway, then keep left, cross the bridge and take the path steeply uphill to the forest road.
  • 1 Turn right onto this path (M1) through Lombachtal.
  • 2 For a shortcut, keep left, then left over the wooden bridge, following trail markers >12 uphill on forest paths to Vilkerather Straße. Turn right there (a detour through Siefen to avoid the K37 is possible), in Linde turn left onto Dahler Straße, and continue straight down into the Schlingenbach valley. For the entire tour, keep right in the Lombach valley, turn right at the road, then take the first left, following the "O" signs to the church in Marialinden. Cross Pilgerstraße and continue onto "An den Sieben Linden". Turn left onto Franziskanerstraße, then take the second right onto "Auf'm Steinacker", and after about 230 meters, turn right onto a farm track. Follow the track in a wide left curve to the Kleiner Naafbach stream, cross the road, continue upstream, turn right at Krampenhöhe, and then take the next left.
  • In Lorkenhöhe turn right onto the main road, then take the next left, ignore two turnoffs on the left, at the T-junction turn left down into the Schlingenbach valley (all M2).
  • 3 First, take the A9, then the A4 and A8 along the Schlingenbach stream downstream until you reach a road. Turn left there (caution: traffic!), after about 230 meters turn right, then at the left-hand bend, take the A4 and A8 and turn right onto a path downstream (note: the turn is somewhat hidden). 4. Under the motorway bridge, head diagonally uphill to the left (from here on, follow the square markers), on the slope above the Agger riverbank, soon turn diagonally right off the farm track onto a path, always downstream back to Klef, there turn right over the bridge to the starting point.
The exact description and the numbers mentioned in the text can be viewed in the illustration "Directions".
