Farmers, animals and agriculture in the Bergisches Land
Along the 12.6-kilometre circular trail, richly illustrated information boards also accompany hikers through the history of agriculture, show how the potato began its triumphal march in Germany and why asparagus is a real herald of spring. There are lots of clever ideas to discover, with which Bergisch farmers are creating new economic mainstays today: from farm stores to farm cafés and Christmas tree sales to a huge bio-power plant, which is operated with liquid manure and food waste, among other things, and can supply numerous houses and apartments with electricity and heating.
This STREIFZUG is not just for grown-up hikers to learn interesting facts about life on the farm. Each of the eleven information boards also offers child-friendly texts with the mouse from the "Sendung mit der Maus" for little hikers.
Part of the STREIFZUG runs along the "Bergischer Weg".
With the Schiefelbusch farm, the Gammersbacher Mühle mill (at weekends) and the Krewelshof farm (approx. 2 km away), there are three farms/cafés along the way that invite you to stop for a bite to eat. The bistro at Auel Golf Club also welcomes hungry hikers.
Walking time: approx. 4 hours
The trail has a total of 11 information boards. We would like to thank Guido Wagner, who looks after the trail as a volunteer trail patron.
