The AGGER-DÖRSPE stage is part of the Bergisches Panorama Cycle Route and therefore also of the Rhineland cycling region. The familiar red and white destination signage will soon be updated and will then lead along the railway line.

The AGGER-DÖRSPE leg of the journey offers a special attraction for all history and railway enthusiasts. Since September 2016, information panels about the industrial and settlement history of the two valleys have been erected along the route.

The history of Agger and Dörspetal:

The Dörspe and Agger valleys share a fascinating industrial and settlement history. Following the adage "You only see what you know," 18 information panels have been erected along the Agger-Dörspe section of the trail. Historical geographer Frank Remmel uses words and images to recount the captivating development of the valleys. He tells the story of companies like Krawinkel and Baldus, which made more than just industrial history, of the importance of the two rivers, and above all, of the impact of the railway line.

Directions

The Agger-Dörspe section of the Bergisches Panorama Cycle Route runs predominantly along the former railway line between Dieringhausen and Olpe and is therefore easy to identify. The route leaves the former railway line at the following points:

a) The starting point at Dieringhausen train station is connected via the cycle path along the main road through the village to the start of the route in Vollmerhausen on Eulenhardtstraße (currently the starting point is at Remmelsohl/Remmelsohler Straße). In Remmelsohl, the route follows Dorfstraße through the village, then the path rejoins the route and is easily recognizable.

b) In Derschlag, on Südstraße, the AS Création company premises can be bypassed: coming from Dieringhausen, turn left onto Hauptstraße and then right onto the cycle path. Shortly after, turn right at the "Querstraße" (cross street), then left onto Südstraße. At the end, turn right and the entrance to the cycle path will be visible. (Coming from Bergneustadt: at the end of the railway cycle path, turn right onto Turmstraße, immediately left onto Südstraße, right onto Querstraße, left onto Hauptstraße, shortly afterwards left again onto Südstraße, and the entrance to the railway cycle path will be visible.)

c) In Bergneustadt's town center, the Panorama Cycle Path runs along Bahnstraße. As the name suggests, this street follows the old railway line. Therefore, if you continue in the same direction, the continuation of the path is easy to find.
