A breathtaking panoramic view of the Rhine Valley and Cologne Cathedral awaits right at the start of this stage, which leads through the village of Bechen to the Große Dhünn reservoir. Numerous animals can be observed at this drinking water reservoir, which is protected by a wide conservation zone, including endangered species such as the kingfisher, the little grebe, and the black stork. The trail then leads across two upstream dams of Germany's second-largest drinking water reservoir, with a capacity of 81 million cubic meters, to the secluded village of Dhünn at the confluence with the Kleine Dhünn river.
We would like to thank Sabine Schulte, Joachim Kutzner and Brigitte Meller, who look after the path as volunteer path stewards.
Here you will find all the hosts of Stage 3.

Directions
- This stage leads predominantly along well-maintained, partly paved forest and farm tracks. From the scenic starting point near Biesfeld, the route descends through the forest to Durhaus and then climbs again to Bechen. From there, it continues with gentle ups and downs to the Große Dhünn reservoir and then through the forest up to Richerzhagen. After a first glimpse of the reservoir, partly gravelled farm tracks and paths lead to the Große Dhünn pre-dam, where a rest stop with an unobstructed view across the reservoir is recommended. The route then continues on wide forest paths to the Kleine Dhünn pre-dam, where a scenic rest area offers another panoramic view. Farm tracks and small roads lead to Unterpilghausen and Oberpilghausen before finally reaching Dhünn.
