A varied route from the Dhünn valley to the "city on the hill"

Gently rolling hills accompany the hiker first to Hückeswagen, a town with historic lanes, slate-clad houses, and a rustic castle, inviting visitors to stroll through its streets. Water, forest, and wind then characterize the rest of the route through the Wupper Valley, where the river is dammed to form the Wupper Reservoir, and up to Radevormwald, situated 421 meters above sea level – the "town on the hill," as it is affectionately known by locals.

We would like to thank Brigitte Meller, Klaus Böcher and Arndt Rüger, who look after the path as volunteer path stewards.

Directions

The promising fourth stage largely follows picturesque paths and only partly well-maintained forest and farm tracks. From the starting point in Dhünn, the route initially leads through the forest to Staelsmühle, then along small roads and paths beside the Kleine Dhünn stream and up to the panoramic heights near the Dreibäumen golf course. From there, meadow paths and trails lead into the idyllic Purder Bach valley and down to Großkatern, where the Panorama Trail ascends along the Schneppenthaler Bach stream towards Hückeswagen. Beyond Hückeswagen, the trail continues along paths and farm tracks through meadows and forests to the Wuppertal Reservoir. Following paths along the wooded slopes of the reservoir, the Panorama Trail finally leads to the Wiebach pre-dam, whose course is then followed to the outskirts of Radevormwald.
