Through rushing forests and small villages, the hiker ascends almost imperceptibly to the Blockhaus winter sports area – 490 meters above sea level, high above the health resort of Eckenhagen. Along the way, a rest stop at the edge of one of the last remaining juniper heaths in the Oberbergisches Land region is a welcome opportunity. Right next to the former ski jump at Blockhaus, the hiker is finally rewarded with a panoramic view that, on a clear day, stretches all the way to the Siebengebirge hills on the horizon.

Directions
- The eighth stage leads mostly along wide forest tracks, but also along more natural paths, and includes some challenging ascents and descents. From Wiedenest, the trail initially climbs to Altenothe and Neuenothe before reaching the juniper heath near Branscheid. The highest point of the Bergisches Panorama Trail is located at the log cabin. The trail then descends through the forest to Windfus, climbs again to Hespert, and descends once more to Dreschhausen, from where it follows the edge of the forest to the stage marker in Nespen.
