The Bergischer Weg is Germany's most beautiful hiking trail in 2024!
The Bergisches Land region's distinctive character, with its nature reserves and beautiful forests, is clearly visible here.

This stage is rich in forests, leading through the 8200-hectare Königsforst and Wahner Heide nature reserve. From the former mining town of Bensberg with its baroque castle, the route continues to Monte Troodelöh, the highest point within Cologne's city limits. From there, the path leads to Rösrath-Forsbach.

If you hike the Bergischer Weg trail and take photos at certain locations, you can collect points and receive a hiking badge. More information is available here

We would like to thank Dieter Vierkotten, who oversees the path as a volunteer path steward.

Here you can find all the hosts on stage 7.

Directions

The seventh stage runs mostly along wide, paved forest paths through the Königsforst forest and also passes the highest point in Cologne, the Monte Troodelöh (118 m above sea level).

From Bensberg, the route initially follows paths and wide forest tracks through the Milchborn valley, past several ponds to Moitzfeld, where a bridge leads over the A4 motorway into the Königsforst forest (with a view of the cathedral!). The route then loops through the Königsforst on well-maintained forest tracks until, west of Lehmbach, you reach the stage marker, which marks the end of this stage.
