The circular hiking trail starts at Haus Thal.
On this hike, you'll experience the wild Sülz River as it winds its way through the Bergisches Land region near Immekeppel and Obersteeg. Along the roughly ten-kilometer route, you can enjoy peaceful trails through beautiful meadows and forests, catch a glimpse of grazing water buffalo, and follow some traces of old mining activity. Finally, a visit to St. Lucia's Cathedral awaits you.

Directions

  • With Haus Thal behind you, follow Lindlarer Straße to the left, then turn left onto Wilhelm-Heidmann-Straße. At the end, turn right onto the path along the Sülz river (A4, A7), and follow this path until you reach Lindlarer Straße. Turn right there, then immediately left onto Löher Straße, and take the second right onto a wide forest path (A7). After approximately 800 meters, bear diagonally right onto a trail, cross bridges to the road, and continue straight ahead onto Jucker Berg (A7).
  • 1 After approximately 450 meters, turn right onto a path leading uphill through the woods to Unterkülheim (circle, X11a). Follow the road diagonally to the left, ignoring any turnoffs to the right. At the intersection, continue straight ahead onto Voiskülheim Street. At the end of the street, turn left, then take the next right. Before reaching the Scheurenhöfchen farm, turn left (A4).
  • 2 Go straight ahead into the dip. Now take the A3 into the Sülz valley.
  • 3 There, on the side road, after a few meters turn right, past the old train station, following the A5 along the old railway line to Lindlarer Straße. 4. Shortcut: Turn right onto the road into the village of Immekeppel until you reach Haus Thal. Longer tour: Cross the road, turn left, then right over the Sülz bridge, and right again onto Mittelsteeg road (A2). At the end, turn right before the gate, onto the path along the hillside to the Immekeppelerteich settlement. Turn right onto the road and cross the Sülz bridge.
  • 5 Then turn right and return to the starting point via Wilhelm-Heidmann-Straße.
